Nursery Policies and Procedures
- Babies/toddlers (age 0-2) are to be the only children occupying this room on Sunday. On Friday, children from 0-4 are allowed to be in this room.
- All workers please arrive in nursery 10-15 minutes before Sunday School/Worship/Fellowship starts.
- All workers please wear the smocks provided. This uniform helps parents to easily identify the worker.
- All workers please wash your hands before coming to the room, before preparing food for any baby, after every diaper check/change, after cleaning any type of body discharge and after using the restroom yourself or taking a child to the restroom. The child must also wash their hands thoroughly after going to the restroom.
- Take attendance (Total the number of adults and babies).
- If there is a new comer, please ask the child's parents to fill out a registration form.
- Ask parents to fill out the Sign-in Board and label all their personal belongings.
- For safety reason, please always keep the doors closed, especially in between Sunday school and service while lots of parents come in and out of the room.
- Greet parents and children as they arrive. The lead worker or at least one worker will walk up to the gate to receive children.
- Parents are encouraged to attend Sunday school and service unless their child cannot adjust to staying in the room after trying, parents can stay with him or her.
- Feed babies according to parents' instruction. If there are not enough workers, let the parents come into the nursery during feeding time.
- Put all the unused formula in the refrigerator.
- As children and parents leave the nursery, there should be at least one worker standing next to the gate making sure no children leave without their parents.
- Keep an eye on toys babies are playing with to make sure they are safe and age appropriate. Throw broken toys away if not fixable.
- Pick up toys and wash all toys mouthed by the children with soap and water at the end of the hour.
- Gather the used crib sheets, blankets and smocks in a pile to be washed.
- Empty garbage and leave it in the utility/furnace room.
Notes
- For kids who have disabilities and need constant supervision, parents are allowed to stay in the nursery but have them wear the smocks provided.
- Please follow directions of the day's lead worker for any specific instructions.
- If a baby become feverish while in the nursery, he/she should be isolated from other babies or if a baby gets hurt by chance, then notify the baby's parent immediately.
- Garbage bags, gloves and washcloths are kept under the sink. Diapers and wipes are kept under changing table. If any supply is in shortage, please notify the lead worker or Sara Li.
- If you know in advance that you will not be able to come on your scheduled day, please find another nursery worker to fill in for you. Should a last minute emergency make it impossible for you to show up on the day scheduled, please call Sara Li (612-559-2184).
